Donkeys Adopted In January 2007

**UPDATED Photos from Linda Received on 7-4-08

Gavin has been adopted  by Linda Polzin and family from Mt. Airy, Maryland!  Congratulations to Linda and her family on the adoption of this gorgeous boy!!

Read below for the wonderful letter we received from Linda's son Robert, who is very excited about Gavin's homecoming in the next few weeks!

Dear Ms. Windsor,

My name is Robert Polzin and I love donkeys. Ever since I was in preschool (6 years ago) I have loved donkeys. We have two great horses, Bare and Sharley, but unfortunately no donkeys.

Bare is my mom's quarter horses. He is eight years old. She rides dressage and trail rides. She would like to do a horse trial in the spring. Bare has also been Elizabeth's pony club mount.

Sharley is our 21 year old Appaloosa mare, Elizabeth and I both ride her. She is a great horse especially on the trail, but, she is NOT a donkey.

We have a nice facility for our horses. Our barn and three-board fencing is new. We have two pastures, one off the back of the barn, which is cover in case of rain. The other pasture has a run-in shed in case of bad weather.

All of our animals are spoiled here, but they are not rotten. They have the best feed (Triple Crown) and hay, and their water is fresh daily. If I had a donkey, he would get a little bit of pellet light feed so he would thing he was getting something with the horses. He would also be fed nice hay and clean water every day.

Here is a picture of me with my donkey collection. As you can see, I have many nice donkeys but I am missing just one - Gavin.

Please approve us for adoption. I know we will give Gavin the best home. He will ALSO be spoiled, but not rotten.

Sincerely, your fellow donkey lover,

Robert Polzen

Robert, we could not agree more. We know Gavin will have the best possible "forever home" with you!

**UPDATE** 2-22-07 - Gavin made it safe and sound to Maryland and is enjoying meeting his new pasture mates, Bare and Sharley!

May 21, 2007   Our First Parelli Donkey---

Here is a picture of Robert practicing his "natural horsemanship" or "natural donkeymanship, as we would call it) with Pablo (A.K.A. Gavin):

p.s. to Brenda:  Remember the halter you sent?  He has grown in to it already!

***UPDATE*** August 14, 2007

Dear Sharon,

Enclosed are some pictures from the bomb-proofing clinic that we took Pablo (A.K.A. Gavin) to. Robert, Elizabeth and I had a great time at the clinic. We took turns working with Pablo and Bare (Pablo's best buddy) on the obstacles. We quickly discovered that Pablo did not need any "bomb proofing" as he was not afraid of anything!

Some of the horses participating in the clinic were scared of Pablo! The clinic instructor had to stop the clinic and inform the "horse" people that those that were having trouble with their horses around a donkey needed to treat the donkey like any other obstacle!

In the end, a great time was had by all and some of the horses that were afraid of Pablo in the beginning even made friends with him by the end!

Hope you all at TPDR enjoy the photos!

Sincerely,

Linda Polzon

Louass and Morass, formerly Lewis and Chase, have been adopted by Carolyn and Conan Brown of Hamlet, Indiana.   Pictured above on the day they went to their new forever home! February 2, 2007 - Groundhog's Day! Headed home to Indiana with a new mom and new names!

Congratulations Carolynn and Conan!

A special thank you to Carolynn for the beautiful stained glass pieces she made for Sharon Windsor, Toni Jones and Jackie Timmerman! Toni's piece is a replica of her adopted donkey Black Jack and Jackie's is of her adopted donkey Ko-Ko. Sharon's is pictured below

More photos of adoption day!

Saying Goodbye to our foster MOM Toni!

Here we go!

Loaded and ready to go, foster mom Toni Jones says Goodbye!!

We're Home! Our chauffer, Uncle Dwight is ready to help us out of the trailer!

Getting ready to take that first step into our new barn!

Hey--there's hay here!  I think we're gonna like it here!

Just taking a look - I'm not ready to go back out into that snow just yet!

These guys are not just attack donkeys, but fire breathing attack donkeys!

Louie steps out of the stall to give his new mom a big hug! Mo is still eating!

11PM --all settled in and ready for our first night as Hoosiers!  GOOD NIGHT!

Morass and Louass won 2nd place in the rescue category of our recent virtual donkey show--and her beloved quarter horse "Hero" took home 1st place honors in the memorial category!  Congratulations!

***3-17-08***

Dear Sharon and Chris,
I had to share these pictures and this story with you. My pastors' daughters and granddaughter came to visit the other day. When the granddaughter, Madison (age 2 1/2) got out of the van she saw Louie and Mo coming to greet them and she shouted "BUNNIES! BUNNIES!" She just KNEW that animals with long ears were BUNNIES! It was soooooo precious! Then when she learned what they were and got to pet them she said "I like these donkeys!" She likes them, but I LOVE THEM!!!  They're the greatest!!!     THANKS!!!!                                                        Carolyn

Carolyn Brown was featured in her local hometown newspaper recently with a wonderful article about her many hobbies and her special donkeys "Louass and Morass". She adopted these two great guys from us in January of 2007. She is also an artist specializing in stained glass work

Frodo has been adopted by Jon and Tamsie Haskell and family of Mattawan, Michigan. Congratulations to the Haskells!

Beauty was adopted by Dr. Jay and Michelle Lugthart of Byron Center, Mi. She will join two previously adopted TPDR jennets DAISY and MINNIE that joined the Lugtharts last year. Congratulations on your newest addition!
