Donkeys Adopted In June 2006

Norman (on right and pictured at home with his new pal Clyde) was adopted by Colleen and Jim Guyer from Rexford, New York. Congratulations Collen and Jim!

***UPDATE***

July 9, 2007

Hi Group and a special hello to Sharon,

We just wanted to send a hello since Clyde and Norman's one year anniversary was a few weeks ago. I can't believe it has already been a year. For their anniversary they got 8 dump trucks full of sand. We put it in front of the barn with hopes to help Clyde with his leg soreness. At 30+ he deserves all the comfort we can give him. Clyde now sees no reason to ever leave this area; even in the rain we have to push him on to go back into the barn. I can sit down right next to him when is lying down. My husband laughs because sometimes we can not even wake him up. He is very comfortable here.

Norman doesn't mind staying in front of the barn, because he can play ball just about anywhere. We also made them another mound so they can continue to play king of the hill but now in the field so we can watch from just about any window in our house. I tell you, watching them is better than TV.

Norman has learned a new job. He has to help me carry the muck buckets to the trailer and carries back the empties. He also is now excellent on lead and gardens with me in the back and front yard. He is such a lover, his favorite thing to do is cuddle with me when I am sitting on a lawn chair. I know this sounds weird but it is true, he is awesome.

Chelsea our 3 1/2 year old daughter now feeds and hays the horses and donkeys. She also brushes Clyde and Norman just about every night. She says, Clyde is her good boy and Norman is Clyde's good boy.

I can honestly say, they have brought us so much happiness and love, we can not imagine our family without them.

I think they feel the same way, especially since they have not had a day without some carrots, apples and/or treats.

Love,
The Guyers

**UPDATE** 10-26-06

Sharon,
I hope all is well with you and the group. We are doing very good here in NY.

Clyde's abscess has drained and is healing if not healed. He is not limping anymore and is feeling good again.

Clyde was the perfect patient while we soaked and treated his hoof for 3wks. He is the most gentle animal and maybe soul that I have ever met.

These pictures are of the mound they play on and as you can see, Clyde is always king of this hill. The field picture is of Norman and Clyde sleeping while Scout (the horse) hangs out over them. It is not uncommon to see all three lying there or in the sand pit.

We love them both very much.

Take care,

Colleen Guyer

***UPDATE*** January-2007

Dear Sharon and the Gang at Donkey Rescue-Just wanted you to know that Hairy and Carson are doing well; they still are buddies with Kuka, our old polo pony that we rescued. I think they look at her as "mom".

We are about done with our new barn. I hope all our animals appreciate the hard work it has been and don't eat the wood.

Have a wonderful year and keep up the good work!

Celie, Samantha, Carson and Hairy

SPECIAL thanks to the Wiltses for their generous donation to TPDR!

**October 2007** We received a very special birthday card from Celie and Samantha Wiltse who adopted Carson and Hairy Potter from us in June of 2006! Thank you so much for your generous birthday donation! It's very appreciated by all of our long eared friends!

Check here for some updated photos of Carson and Hairy Potter!

***UPDATE and PHOTOS 1-12-11***

Hello Sharon

Happy New Year.

We wanted to send you some updated photos of the boys.
All is well here. We recently acquired a mini donkey and
a mini horse.  They are cute, Carson was really good with
them but Harry took a while.  Every day he chased them,
I think it finally got old and he has stopped.
Thank Goodness.  Hope all is good there.
Will send you some pics of our new additions.

Sincerely Celie and Sam
