Donkeys Adopted In March 2011

Mudflap has been adopted by his foster mom
Amy Lazette of Monroe, Mi. Congratulations!!

****UPDATE APRIL 2011***

Here are some pictures of Gus and Mudflap.
As you can see they are BEST friends already
never more than a few feet from each
other and why Tom takes all the pictures.

I wanted to show you what that bareback
pad I got for Flapper looked like...he's doing so well.
Now all he needs is a girth that actually fits
(which I have on order from Chick's)...once
I get that I'll send the "saddled" picture to you!
Amy Lazette-Dauss

And a few more featuring Mudflap's 7 year old neighbor Meghan.
She just loves coming over and brushing him and his brother Gus,
as well as leading them around or feeding them treats.

Mudflap is wonderful with her and stands patiently as
she diligently brushes until he is spotless ,which is quite the
task for a little girl and a hairy donkey in early, muddy spring!

She is also the little author and artist
who created this story about Mudflap and Gus!

****Update 5-28-11****

I wanted to give you guys an update on Mudflap.  I couldn't be more happier with him, as he is the kindest, most gentle soul I have ever come across--animal or human.  He stood for over a day at the fence when I brought Ernie (my foster) home from being gelded...talking to him and gently braying to him--I'm sure he was sympathizing and letting him know he's in a safe place now.

He is absolutely wonderful with the neighborhood kids, as well as with my nieces.  They all love to brush him and lead him around.  I had a bridle custom made to fit him perfectly, and I am sure it will be an easy transition to riding donkey with his wonderful personality.

He is the first to come up to me when I go in the pasture, and he always puts himself away at night...even if nobody else is in or wants to come in...as soon as I go out there and he sees what I expect he takes it upon himself to meander into his stall and wait patiently for dinner.

He has taught his little brother Gus NOT to run away from me when I go out in the pasture to get him, and they are never more than a few feet from each other.  I am sure that Mudflap will show Ernie the ropes once he has healed from his castration and can go out in the pasture with everyone else.

Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to foster for your organization, as well as adopt Mudflap.  I'm pretty sure the person who said dog was man's best friend never had a donkey.

Amy

Mudflap and Gus - May 2011

****UPDATE 6-28-11****

Mudflap- (adopted in March of 2011)on left and Ernie-(currently in foster care with Amy) on right, as they made an appearance at the TSC store in Monroe, Mi. several weeks ago.

Everyone had a great time and our donkey boys were a huge hit with everyone they met that day. The event was a great way to educate the public about donkeys. The boys were kind, fearless, and very friendly with everyone they met. When it was time to leave for home they both loaded right up as asked.

Well Ernie and Mudflap you did us proud!

Bart & Mark (otherwise known as The Simpsons)
have been adopted by Paul Bloom D.V.M. and
Sue Bloom of South Lyon, Mi.
Congratulations to all~!!
