Donkeys Adopted In May 2009

Dusty has been adopted  by Jennifer Wotachek of Two Rivers, Wisconsin!  CONGRATULATIONS!

***UPDATE 5-23-10***

Sharon,

My name is Jennifer Wotachek, I adopted Dusty a year ago. Dusty is doing wonderful here and we love him to death!! So does my horse Jesse. When we first brought him home he was shy but quickly warmed up to Jesse and us. It seemed as though he didn't know his name when we got him home but now when I call his name he comes running up to me.

Dusty stands well for the farrier and does well with his vaccinations. He has gotten great at begging for treats too! Dusty and Jesse are inseparable. When Jesse is in the barn so is Dusty, when Jesse goes out to the pasture Dusty is not far behind. Whenever I take Dusty out Jesse has a fit. He runs around like crazy and yells for his friend to come back!

Just recently I tried something new. I put a bell by their barn so when it's dinner time I can just ring the bell and they come running up to the barn. It's a lot easier than yelling their names when they are way in the back of the pasture. They caught onto it very quickly. I attached a picture of Dusty and Jesse when they were first getting to know each other. I will send you more when I upload them from my camera.

I have a question for you Sharon. Dusty is an exceptionally quiet donkey. He attempts to bray but they are almost like whispers. The only time he makes any noise is when I go out to feed him. Is there a reason some donkeys do this?

I visit the TPDR website on a pretty regular basis in hopes of finding another miniature donkey because like Kelly said, "Donkeys are like potato chips, you can't just have one." I have read up on the latest three that were added to the website and I am most interested in Freddy or Webster. Do you think they would do well with both a horse and a donkey (both geldings)?

Thank You,
Jennifer Wotachek
