Donkeys Adopted In October 2007

TPDR Ty  has been adopted by Alexandra Jablonsky of London, Ontario, Canada. He will be joining TPDR Dennis adopted by Alex in Nov. of 2006. Alex is also the proud "MOM" of two adopted Clydesdale geldings (pictured below).

Congratulations to Ty and Alex!

Ty was one of our rehab donkeys and has came a long way since his arrival at TPDR.

Ty will have a few big brothers, Laddie pictured above and Big Ben pictured below. These happy "bigger" brothers were also rescued by Alex.

Hi Sharon!!

The Ty man is doing really well !! He is so confident and content .... WOW ! We introduced him to Dennis on Tuesday and it was funny to watch........Dennis was intrigued with Ty, but Ty was more interested in checking out his new barn (we had them wandering around in the barn together because it was cold and wet). If Dennis got too pushy, Ty would flatten his ears and give a little squeal and a token back kick ......... Debbie and I were in stitches!!!!!!!

The next day I had to go to Toronto with my husband George. He had quite extensive foot surgery on Thursday and my life has been H*LL ever since!!!! It is like having a 250 pound infant with severe colic...............yech!!

I was in Toronto until Friday night when I had to drive the gimp home. I talked to Deb several times a day to find out how the "new little guy" was doing. He did something that was so bitter-sweet........Deb has built people passes between the paddocks so the humans don't have to unchain the gates when we want to go in. Years ago when I had my first little donkey, Dante, we put him in the paddock right beside the horses for the day to see how he would adjust. Neither one of us considered the people pass because even a human has to be a contortionist to get through it, and yet, the next morning there was Dante happily grazing with his new horse buddies. Once again, we laughed our heads off !!! Well, sure enough, when we put Ty out in the paddock beside Dennis and the horses (once again forgetting about the people pass) and later in the day, there was tiny Ty eating hay and checking out his new buddies. It was both sweet and sad when Deb told me.

He is amazing and we are already crazy about him!

It was such a pleasure to come and visit your wonderful home and farm. It is my dream to own my own house out in the country and do something worthwhile, just as you do.

Thank you for the pictures and the wonderful coverage on the web site (Deb was SO flattered to be shown too!!)

Sorry to take a few days to get back to you........but I am still babysitting my husband..........animals are SO MUCH EASIER!!!

talk to you soon :)

**UPDATE 11-25-07**

Hi Sharon,
Just checking in to let you know that Ty is doing really well. If anything, it appears that when it comes to his relationship with Dennis, Tiny Ty is the boss! They both make a huge fuss if the other one is absent for any reason and have been playing a great deal. It is so cute to watch them.
Please know that I love Ty and Dennis with all my heart and I will always make sure they have the best life!!!!
I am hoping you have gone to the website I mentioned to you and checked out the very well written blog by Sheaffer the donkey. You will love it, I know.
www.sheafferdonkey.blogspot.com
let me know what you think, OK?
all the best,
Ty, Dennis, Deb and Alex
p.s. Deb and I are both crazy about your dog!! hope you enjoy the pictures....what was his name again???

Sharon says...

" My dogs name is Curly! He came from the sale barn too!"
