How Do I Adopt A Donkey?

The following criteria must be met before an
adoption is approved.
 |
Donkeys must be provided with a safe and sturdily fenced
area along with a dry shelter for protection from the elements. Donkeys
require clean, mold-free hay and a constant source of fresh, clean, unfrozen
water.
|
 |
Required healthcare includes current vaccinations and
Coggins and proper hoof care and trimming. (All donkeys receive current
vaccinations, Coggins and a visit from the farrier before they are placed in
adoptive homes. Males are also neutered.)
|
 |
All donkeys must have an equine companion such as a horse,
donkey or mule, at their adoptive home.
|
 |
No
animal will be adopted out for breeding purposes, all jacks are gelded
prior to becoming adoptable
|
 |
Turning Pointe Donkey Rescue has the right
to visit the donkey(s) and to monitor the placement. If the adoption is
deemed incompatible or unsuitable for any reason, Turning Pointe
Donkey Rescue shall have the right to cancel the adoption and refund
the adoption fee.
|
 |
The adoptee agrees not to sell or transfer the donkey(s)
without giving Turning Pointe Donkey Rescue the first
right/option to repurchase the donkey(s).
|
Our adoption fee is normally
$650.00, although occasionally a donkey may be priced a bit lower.
The fee could also be
adjusted upward depending on the training to ride/and or drive that
animal has had while here.
The adoption fee covers all
vaccines, farrier work, current coggins, registration fee and castration. |
