TPDR BAXTER

BAXTER  LEMMON

1998 to 2008

Baxter passed away in August from cancer of the jaw. He was such a sweet wonderful donkey and has been missed and will be missed every single day. Baxter started in the summer with a small lump growing on his jaw. From the xrays it looked like he had a chip in his jaw from being kicked. After a month or so of it not getting better he was taken to MSU for more xrays and it was there that they found he had cancer that was eating away his jaw bone. Even with all the wonderful vets there we knew that other than make his days as wonderful as we could, there was nothing we could do for him. Dr. Judy  Martiniuk was kind enough to help with his care while we were there and we thank her for everything she did to help.

Baxter tried to stay with us as long as he could but after losing 200 pounds from his jaw being so swollen he couldn't eat,  we had to make the decision to have him put to sleep. He went to rainbow bridge in Aug after not being able to eat for 2 days. His welfare was more important than keeping him on this earth any longer.

Not a day goes by that Baxter isn't missed, he was head of the herd out there and to this day his best pal Henry still looks for him. Never had Henry ever brayed until the day Baxter died. On that day he stood on Baxters grave and gave the most sorrowful bray for his friend.

Its funny how when just one leaves it looks empty out in the pasture.  Baxter was loved and will be missed by both his 2 legged and 4 legged family.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

THEN YOU CROSS RAINBOW BRIDGE TOGETHER...
